District 5440 Scholarships
 
District 5440 offers scholarships for students who are studying in or have demonstrated interest in one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus:
  • Water and sanitation
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Peace and conflict resolution
  • Economic and community development
  • Education and literacy
  • Maternal and child health
  • Protecting the Environment
 
Two types of scholarships are awarded
  • $1,000 undergraduate scholarship funded by a district grant
  • $30,000 graduate level study abroad scholarship funded by a global grant
 
Undergraduate scholarship
  • Scholarships are for study at US colleges and universities.  This includes official study abroad programs of these institutions.
  • All eligible district 5440 clubs may apply for a Scholarship district grant
  • Applications are due by June 8
  • Applications are submitted on matchinggrants.org under District Grants
  • In the application description indicate why you have selected this candidate for the grant and their background that indicates their interest in one of Rotary's seven areas of focus
  • In the documents section, upload the candidate's resume or CV
  • Applications are reviewed by the grants committee in June and funds are awarded in July
 
Graduate study abroad scholarship
  • One scholarship will be awarded each year
  • Clubs in the district take turns managing the application process by selecting the winning candidate and applying for the Global Grant Scholarship
  • These clubs work with the universities in their area to get candidates; however, any club can submit an application to the club that is managing the global grant scholarship that year
