  • To be eligible for the maximum amount of DDF specified for the year (as indicated below), a club must have contributed at least $100/capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund in the previous Rotary year.
  • The maximum 2:1 match for D5540 sponsored global grants before December 1 is $15,000. After December 1, clubs can apply for an additional $5,000 in DDF for existing projects or $15,000 DDF for new projects.
  • The maximum 2:1 match for global grants sponsored by another district is $5000.  In order to obtain this match, we will require at least one D5440 person to join the grant committee (or travel to help with the grant) .  This matching will only be considered for non5440 grants after Dec. 1 such that 5440 sponsored grants have priority and first come access to the DDF.

District Grant Policy
Effective May 1, 2021

Purpose:  to give guidance to the District Grants Chair and to Rotary Clubs throughout the district regarding eligibility for district grants.   With the amount of money available varying from year to year, and in some cases being fairly restricted, this policy provides a more equitable basis for the distribution of available district grant money, while encouraging Rotarians to contribute more to The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary Club Eligibility for District Grants:  To provide a more equitable distribution of available funds, there are now three tiers of Rotary Club eligibility for District Grants as follows:
  • Tier 1 – Clubs who contribute $200 or more per capita to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will be eligible for $6,000.
  • Tier 2 – Clubs who contribute between $100 and $199 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will be eligible for $5,000.
  • Tier 3 – Clubs who contribute between $50 and $99 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will be eligible for $3,500.
  • Tier 4 - Clubs who contribute less than $50 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will not be eligible for district grants or governor’s grants.
Newly Chartered Clubs:  New Rotary Clubs who are chartered during the Rotary year will be exempt from the above requirements for their first full Rotary year and will be classified as Tier #3 unless they can qualify for a higher tier.

Rotaract Club Eligibility for District Grants: For Rotaract clubs to be eligible they must
meet the following two criteria:
  • 50% of the members must be dual members with Rotaract and Rotary.
  • The club contribution to the RI foundation must be $50 per capita or more.
NOTE: Eligible Rotary and Rotaract clubs can submit a combined total of two district grant applications per year limited to the Rotary Club’s Tier level. Satellites are considered part of a Rotary Club and are included in the two-grant limit.  The District will match club funds 2 for 1 up to this limit.
Governor’s Grant Eligibility:  Rotary and Rotaract Clubs wishing to apply for a Governor’s grant must be contributing $50 or more per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund to be eligible for a $1,000 grant
NOTE: Eligible Rotary and Rotaract clubs can submit a combined total of two Governor’s Grant applications per year limited to $1,000.  Satellites are considered part of a Rotary Club and are included in the two-grant limit.  The District will match club funds 2 for 1 up to the annual published limit.
District Scholarship Grant:  Rotary Clubs in Tiers 1, 2 and 3 may use their Governor’s Grant for an undergraduate scholarship for a student who has demonstrated interest in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus or for RYLA scholarships.
Rotaract/Interact Grants:  Rotaract and Interact Clubs can apply for a Rotaract/Interact grant limited to $300 per grant from the district if the District Governor has set aside money for Rotaract/Interact Grants.  The District will match club funds 2 for 1 up to this limit.
All contribution requirements will be based on the previous year’s contribution as reported by The Rotary Foundation on July 1st of each year.
If funds are remaining after October 15th of any given year, the District will accept additional applications regardless of the number of grants submitted earlier.
All grant applications are to be submitted on www.matchinggrants.org in the name of the sponsoring Rotary Club.  The type of grant requested should be noted in the Project Description.
New Club Eligibility for District Grants: Members of newly chartered Rotary clubs are encouraged to contribute to The Rotary Foundation and to participate in projects using District Grants.  New clubs are eligible to apply for Tier 3 grants and Governor’s grants for the first 3 years of the club’s existence without meeting the per capita giving requirements.
