The report from Rotary International can be downloaded from the left toolbar.  This report is on resolutions submitted to the Council on Legislation in 2017.  Our district was among 500 voting on one or more of the resolutions.  The Council adopted 17 resolutions, of which 15 were recommendations to the RI Board and two were recommendations to The Rotary Foundation trustees. The board and the trustees will consider these items at their upcoming meetings.

The deadline for submitting “resolutions” to the 2018 Council on Legislation is 30 June 2018. A link to the submission form, plus helpful resources, can be found on the Councils page of My Rotary.

It is important to note that “resolutions” must be approved by the club’s members and its board of directors and then endorsed by clubs in the district through a district conference, legislative meeting, or through a ballot-by-mail. A “petition” may be submitted to the RI Board from an individual club or district without consensus among all of the clubs in the district.  This is typically a request for action on a specific matter which the Board will consider at its regular quarterly meeting.   Items that have a limited scope, rather than impacting the whole Rotary world, are better to submit as “petitions.”

PDG Mike Forney is our Council on Legislation representative.  He will be available to discuss the results of the 2017 voting and the process for submitting “resolutions” or “petitions” at the District Assembly in Cheyenne on April 7th and the District Conference in Estes Park in May.
