Dear District 5440 Rotarians:

Updated: May 1, 2015

As you think about what you can do to provide assistance to Nepal to help them through this disaster, our intent is provide an updated listing of Rotary projects/requests for aide. As of right now, the main emphasis through Rotary International is Shelter Box (see below)
Shelter Box. The focus for Rotary, through a communication from RI President Gary Huang, is to provide shelter and basic living needs through support of Shelter Box. Click on this Shelter Box link to see more information or instructions on how you may donate.

Red Cross. Funding is their primary need right now. You can find more information at the Red Cross site.

There will be plenty of needs down the road after the initial disaster response. If you or your club would like to make a donation you could do so to our District 5440 Foundation and target those funds for Nepal.
  1. The Fort Collins Rotary After Work has had a relationship with a school and orphanages in Kathmandu. The school has been damaged and the leaders and some of the children are living in tents outside. The club started a Go Fund Me campaign (click here for more information).
  2. Rotary District 3292 has set up a Disaster Relief Fund for food, blankets, medical supplies, etc. We have the banking information for this fund if you would like to contribute.
  3. The following link is a long list of organizations that are providing aide in Nepal. It was compiled by CNN. Click here for a list of organizations providing aide relief in Nepal.

We will work diligently to keep you all up to date on a Rotary and a District 5440 response to this horrific disaster. If you know of other Rotary opportunities please let us know.
